Dr. Tiffany E. Lewis
Director of Alternative Education
Dr. Tiffany E. Lewis hails from the picturesque city of Cuthbert, Georgia, nestled in Randolph County. A devoted mother to her son, Virgil Jr., Dr. Lewis has carved an impressive path in both the business and education sectors.
Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Fort Valley State University in 2006, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in February 2009. In June 2015, she achieved a significant milestone, earning a Doctor of Education degree with dual concentrations in Organizational Leadership and Human Service Administration from NOVA Southeastern University, along with a Distance Education Certificate.
Before venturing into the field of education, Dr. Lewis accumulated over a decade of experience in the business industry, showcasing her skills in Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, Human Resources, Supervision, Purchasing Coordination, and Training. Additionally, she shared her knowledge as an Adjunct Instructor at Virginia College of Macon for three years.
Driven by a quest to fulfill her life's purpose, Dr. Lewis transitioned to public education in 2017 as a non-traditional teacher at Westside High School. Over the past seven years, she has embraced various roles, including CTAE Department Chair, FBLA Advisor, Special Education Lead, Youth Build Program Manager, After School Coordinator, Saturday School Administrator, and currently, she serves as Assistant Principal/Director of SOAR & VIP Academy.
Dr. Lewis continuously strives for excellence and expanded her leadership capacity. She presented at the Georgia Educational Research Association Conference in 2015, served as the Emancipation Proclamation Ceremony Speaker in 2017, and earned recognition as a Top Forty under Forty candidate by Rural Leaders Magazine. In 2020, she completed the CTAE Lead Cohort in the Bibb County School District, and in May 2022, she accomplished the APEL Educational Leadership Certification Program. Notably, Dr. Lewis presented at the National Alternative Education Association Conference in Tampa, FL, in October 2023.
An active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Dr. Lewis finds joy in her spare time by exploring new destinations, cherishing moments with family, and engaging in home improvement projects. As she passionately dedicates herself to students in alternative education, Dr. Lewis considers it a privilege to contribute to the school community daily, emphasizing the significance of the collaborative efforts of faculty and students.
Dr. Lisa D. Thompson: A Passionate Advocate for Education
Program Support Coordinator
Hailing from Savannah, GA, Dr. Lisa D. Thompson brings over 25 years of dedicated experience in education, with 15 of those years spent teaching Science. She began her journey as a full-time Science substitute at an alternative school, providing invaluable support to pregnant and parenting teenage girls.
Dr. Thompson has earned her teaching certification at the Master's level and has pursued further education, achieving two Specialist degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership, along with a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Throughout her career, she has embraced a variety of roles in both traditional and non-traditional schools, including Science Teacher, Science Department Chair, PBIS Coach, RTI Coach, Science Instructional Coach, Educational Support Specialist, and Assistant Principal. As Assistant Principal, she served five impactful years at Westside High School.
As a proud mother of four adult children who graduated from Bibb County schools and are making their mark in the world, Dr. Thompson understands the importance of education. Now, as Program Support Coordinator at SOAR Academy, she is committed to empowering teachers and maximizing their potential. Her enthusiasm extends to her SOAR students, as she strives to ensure that every student acquires the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s world and leaves better than when they arrived. Dr. Thompson’s unwavering passion for the educational success of all is a driving force that inspires both her colleagues and students alike!
